The Carrier is a high-speed disc for primary tillage and seedbed preparation. A variety of options for front tools, discs and packers helps meet the needs of today's farmers – from ultra-shallow tillage to deeper incorporation. This versatility can save passes, decrease cost per acre and provide the best start possible for the coming crop.
The multipurpose implement
The Carrier high-speed disc is a versatile multipurpose implement. Depending on the configuration, the Carrier can be used for five main tasks: primary tillage, fertilizer/herbicide incorporation, seedbed preparation, small-seed drilling and pest prevention.
Wide variety of working depths
Väderstad invented the high-speed disc, or compact disc, segment. We launched the Carrier in 1999 and have continued to develop it ever since, including specialized versions for North American farmers and field conditions. Today, a full range of disc sizes are available to accomplish a variety of tasks – from ultra-shallow tillage at about .75 to 1 inch (2-3cm) depths, to fertilizer or herbicide incorporation with working depths over 6 inches.
Individually mounted discs
Each disc is individually mounted on a rubber suspended disc arm. This increases the penetration capability and improves the ability to follow the ground contour, while offering excellent damage protection when operating in rocky conditions.
The spacious design ensures a good flow of soil and crop residue through the unit for minimal plugging concerns. You benefit from high precision without compromises.
Conical discs – a superior agronmic design
The conical shape of the disc is engineered for ideal soil tilth and consistent residue mixing. The shape also ensures that the same working angle is maintained no matter the working depth or amount of disc wear. The vertical attack angle prevents hardpan while keeping rocks in the soil.
X-disc pulls straight behind the tractor
The discs are positioned in an x-shape, which means that lateral forces cancel each other out. As a result, the Carrier tracks perfectly straight behind the tractor. This benefit is essential when using GPS-control and when operating in hilly conditions.
Premium-quality Swedish steel
The Väderstad V-55 Swedish steel combines a very high hardness with a preserved shock resistance. Compared to industry standards, the unique Väderstad V-55 pushes the hardness level from standard HRC 47-48 to HRC 55. This means you benefit from lower wear part costs and less downtime.
TrueCut ensures even wear
Väderstad TrueCut is a unique method for milling the disc cut-outs. It ensures perfectly even wear of the disc diameter to keep the original disc shape over time.
TrueCut maintains the grip, soil penetration and aggressiveness throughout the working life of the discs.
Intensive ultra-shallow tillage
CrossCutter Disc performs outstanding in oilseed rape stubble and in cover crops, while also enabling great advantages in grain stubble as well as on plowed land. Because of its disc shape and high-quality Swedish steel, CrossCutter Disc provides full cultivation and intensive mixing at shallow working depth. This means that an extensive stale seedbed is created over the entire field.
Impressive weight per disc
The Carrier line features a strong frame constructed with premium-quality Swedish steel. This design results in high weight per disc for superior ground penetration while helping maintain consistent working depth in tough conditions.
Adjustable axles help ensure uniform tillage
Successful weed control requires all roots to be thoroughly sliced in the first pass.
To ensure optimal slicing and uniform tillage, the front row of discs can be adjusted laterally using the turnbuckle.
Long working life
All components that contact the soil are rubber suspended to increase the working life of the machine and wear parts.
The powerful rubber suspension absorbs bumps and impacts from rocks and other obstacles to protect the rings, axles and bearings.
